Stealth Runner: Protecting Filipino Fisherfolk in the West Philippine Sea

The West Philippine Sea (WPS) has become a contested area, with Filipino fisherfolk facing harassment and threats from illegal entities. To address this growing concern, the Stealth Runner Project proposes a new line of patrol boats designed to deter violence and ensure the safety of Filipino fisherfolk.

A Non-Violent Intervention

Unlike warships, the Stealth Runner is a non-violent intervention mechanism. Built with locally-sourced, recyclable materials, these patrol boats prioritize the safety of both crew and the environment.

Enhanced Crew Protection

Recognizing the increasing aggressiveness in the WPS, the Stealth Runner project incorporates a crucial safeguard: a wheelhouse encapsulated in Kevlar-reinforced carbon fiber. This innovative design protects the crew from small arms fire up to 12.7×99mm NATO equivalent, providing vital defense in tense situations.

Technology for Transparency and Sustainability

The Stealth Runner's wheelhouse doesn't compromise on functionality. Equipped with civilian-grade Starlink, the crew has access to reliable internet connectivity, facilitating real-time communication and data transmission. Additionally, GPS and fishing sonar provide essential navigation and fishing support. Conventional communication and navigation equipment ensure seamless operation.

A Secure Crew Cabin

The crew's well-being is paramount. The wheelhouse and crew cabin are designed as a self-contained module, offering protection from conventional weapons fire. This allows a crew of two to four to operate safely and efficiently.

Promoting Peaceful Coexistence

The Stealth Runner Project aims to achieve the following:

  • Deter harassment of Filipino fisherfolk.
  • Ensure the safety and security of Filipino fisherfolk in the WPS.
  • Promote peaceful coexistence among neighboring countries.

By providing a secure platform for Filipino fisherfolk to operate, the Stealth Runner project fosters a peaceful environment in the WPS.
